Senate Resolution 793 By: Senators James of the 28th, Rhett of the 33rd, Wicks of the 34th, Anderson of the 43rd, Howard of the 35th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 19, 2026, as International Diaspora Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, many of the traditions we celebrate and practice in the United States originate from the peoples of other continents; and WHEREAS, the myriad of cultures that make up the United States are a reflection of the rich history and traditions of the many nations and people who have immigrated to its shores; and WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has been enriched by the presence of its citizens of international heritage, who have made invaluable contributions to its political, social, and economic prosperity; and WHEREAS, the members of the Georgia General Assembly salute the presence, productivity, and many contributions of those residents of international birth and lineage. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize March 19, 2026, as International Diaspora Day at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
