A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Janea' Harris; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Janea' Harris is a United States Army veteran, author, survivor, advocate, and
community leader whose life and work are rooted in service, strength, and transformation;
and
WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans for six years; and
WHEREAS, after transitioning from the military, Janea' founded ONFIYA Agency, Inc.,a
nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and youth across Georgia and
South Carolina; and
WHEREAS, for more than a decade, ONFIYA Agency, Inc., has provided life-changing
programs addressing domestic violence, homelessness, grief, food insecurity, and youth
development. Through her leadership, thousands of individuals have found hope, resources,
and the opportunity to rebuild their lives; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her nonprofit work, Janea’ is the author of The Shift Within The
Boat, published under her pen name Janie Aadhya; and
WHEREAS, her influence extends into education, social services, and justice advocacy, as
she currently serves as the Vice President of the Douglas County DFCS Advisory Board and
has partnered with organizations such as the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department
of Social Services, Benedict College, the University of South Carolina, Morehouse College,
and numerous other school districts and community agencies; and
WHEREAS, Janea's dedication to service has been recognized through numerous prestigious
awards, including two Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards personally signed by
President Joe Biden; and
WHEREAS, she has been honored as the 2023 Author of the Year by the Black People
United Global Network and has been featured in Voyage Atlanta, Shoutout Atlanta, and
Voyage Ohio Hidden Gems; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraordinary Georgian be
appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Janea' Harris for her unwavering commitment to protecting and
uplifting vulnerable families.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Janea' Harris.
