## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution formally congratulates Senate staffers Charlie and Haley Barrett on the birth of their son, Charles "Beau" Donald Barrett IV.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a law that changes any statute. It recognizes the August 13, 2025 birth of Charles "Beau" Donald Barrett IV to Charlie and Haley Barrett.
The resolution notes Charlie Barrett's role as Chief of Staff to the Senate President Pro Tempore and Haley Barrett's role as Communications Director for the Georgia State Ethics Commission. It directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for the family. It carries no legal effect beyond expressing the Senate's congratulations and best wishes.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates Charlie and Haley Barrett on the birth of their son, Charles "Beau" Donald Barrett IV.
- States the baby's birth weight and length and extends wishes for a long, happy, and healthy life.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to the family.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Charlie Barrett, Chief of Staff to the Senate President Pro Tempore, and Haley Barrett, Communications Director for the Georgia State Ethics Commission, along with their newborn son. It also involves the Secretary of the Senate, who must prepare the commemorative copy.

### Why it matters

This resolution has no effect on Georgia law or policy. It is a personal, ceremonial gesture by the Senate to mark the birth of a colleague's child and create an official keepsake for the family.

### Key provisions

- The resolving clause congratulates Charlie and Haley Barrett on the birth of their son and wishes him a long, happy, and healthy life.
- The final clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to the parents.
