A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day at the state capitol; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, the trucking industry is essential to the economic vitality, public safety, and
quality of life of the State of Georgia, moving more than 70 percent of all domestic freight
and ensuring that goods, food, fuel, and critical supplies reach Georgia's communities every
day; and
WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking industry supports more than 333,000 jobs statewide –
approximately one in every twelve jobs – and pays $19.3 billion annually in wages, while
serving as a cornerstone of Georgia's nationally recognized logistics and freight economy;
and
WHEREAS, more than three-quarters of Georgia's communities depend exclusively on
trucks to move their goods, and nearly all manufactured products in Georgia – approximately
96.9 percent of manufactured tonnage – are transported by truck at some point in the supply
chain; and
WHEREAS, the Georgia Trucking Association, for more than 90 years, has served as the
unified voice of Georgia's trucking industry by advocating for safety, productivity, and
efficiency; supporting professional drivers and motor carriers; and strengthening the industry
through leadership, education, and service; and
WHEREAS, Georgia's trucking companies and professional drivers continue to demonstrate
resilience, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety while navigating a dynamic
operating environment shaped by economic cycles, congestion, workforce transitions, and
rising costs; and
WHEREAS, trucking professionals and companies invest heavily in safety, training, and
modern equipment, with the industry investing more than $14 billion annually in safety
nationwide, reinforcing a shared commitment to protecting the traveling public and
strengthening Georgia's transportation network; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Runs on Trucking Day provides an opportunity for legislators, staff,
and the public to engage directly with professional drivers and industry leaders, to learn more
about the equipment and people that power Georgia's economy, and to recognize the essential
role trucking plays in the daily lives of all Georgians; and
WHEREAS, on March 18, 2026, members of Georgia's trucking industry will be present at
the state capitol, with commercial vehicles and equipment staged for educational display and
professional drivers available to share their experiences and insights.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize March 18, 2026, as Georgia Runs on Trucking Day at the state capitol and
commend Georgia's trucking professionals and companies for their indispensable service to
the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia
Trucking Association.
