Senate Resolution 858
By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Wicks of the 34th, Harbison of the 15th, Sims of the
12th, Davenport of the 17th and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Irene Brown Mackson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Irene Brown Mackson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Air Force, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans for 21 years;
and
WHEREAS, for 16 years, she taught Air Force Junior ROTC in DeKalb County, Georgia,
and is currently a Business Support Analyst in Grant Operations at the Georgia Department
of Veterans Service; and
WHEREAS, she is passionate about helping veterans and job applicants discover new career
fields during times of extreme hardship due to disability; and
WHEREAS, throughout her distinguished career, Irene Brown Mackson demonstrated a deep
personal commitment to supporting military service members and was honored with several
awards, including the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force Achievement
Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal; and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths who has brought great credit to
herself, her family, this state, and this nation through her dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Irene Brown Mackson and extend the most sincere best wishes for
her continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Irene Brown
Mackson.
