Senate Resolution 861 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Wicks of the 34th, Harbison of the 15th, Sims of the 12th, Davenport of the 17th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Shameka A. Jones; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Shameka A. Jones has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans for six years; and WHEREAS, her distinguished service includes assignments at 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters in Camp Red Cloud, Korea, and at Signal Headquarters at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where she served in the Protocol Office; and WHEREAS, her final tour of duty was with 1st U.S. Army at Fort Gilliam, Georgia, where she served on the Secretary of the General Staff and also served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) for Army Funeral Detail; and WHEREAS, throughout her military career, Shameka earned multiple honors, including being named Soldier of the Year for 1st U.S. Army Headquarters and induction into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, recognizing her exemplary leadership and dedication as a Non-Commissioned Officer; and WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Shameka A. Jones and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Shameka A. Jones.
