A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending Sydney Jakes for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki
T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the first African American
female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of
service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia
Women's Legislative Caucus; and
WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative
Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify the leadership and
inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and
WHEREAS, Sydney Jakes is passionate attorney, devoted servant leader, and dedicated
member of The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau
Epsilon Omega Chapter; and
WHEREAS, she is a Senior Attorney and operational leader at the Law Offices of Samuel
Jakes, Jr., LLC; and
WHEREAS, with a heart for service and a steadfast commitment to progress, Sydney Jakes
has orchestrated dynamic programs that address critical needs within her community; and
WHEREAS, she has been instrumental in leading Heart Health Week, the TEO Little Library
book drives, and the Blessings in a Backpack initiative; and
WHEREAS, as a Co-chairmen for AKA Day at the Capitol, she passionately advances the
causes of voter equity and education as well as amplifies the voices of marginalized
communities; and
WHEREAS, Sydney Jakes' leadership is a beacon of inspiration that serves as a shining
example of integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to others; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate and commend Sydney Jakes for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T.
Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for her continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sydney Jakes.
