Senate Resolution 863

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Diesha Ranaldson-Blackmon; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Diesha Ranaldson-Blackmon has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting her fellow Americans; and

WHEREAS, in 2009, she enlisted in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman and during Basic Training she was elected Airman of the Division (AROC), a distinction recognizing exemplary leadership, accountability, and peer mentorship; and

WHEREAS, throughout her decade of service, Diesha completed advanced training in Pensacola, Florida and Virginia Beach, Virginia, and honorably served aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson; and

WHEREAS, she concluded her naval career as a Petty Officer at Naval Air Station Lemoore in September 2019; and

WHEREAS, Diesha continued her dedication to service by furthering her education in nursing and psychology, as well as serving as the Public Relations Chair for the National Association of Black Military Women (NABMW), Atlanta Metropolitan Chapter; and

WHEREAS, she currently serves as a Life Coach with Sanctum Peace, a health and wellness-based community stability initiative, where she provides resilience-focused mental wellness support to veterans and contributes to veteran-centered outreach and community engagement efforts; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Diesha Ranaldson-Blackmon and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Diesha Ranaldson-Blackmon.
