A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Yvonne Barrett; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Yvonne Barrett, a native of Waukegan, Illinois, was born to the late William F. Barrett Sr. and Sarah J. Barrett, whose enduring influence instilled in her the principles of integrity, perseverance, and service that would define her remarkable life and career; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Yvonne Barrett honorably served the United States Army from 1989 to 2018, completing 29 years of faithful and distinguished service marked by courage, discipline, and unwavering patriotism; and

WHEREAS, throughout her remarkable military career, Sergeant First Class Barrett held critical leadership roles, including Government Purchase Card Holder, Property Book Officer, Training Noncommissioned Officer, Brigade Food Service Noncommissioned Officer, and Arms Room Noncommissioned Officer, ensuring operational readiness and the responsible stewardship of vital resources; and

WHEREAS, her exceptional leadership in logistics, training, and organizational management directly contributed to mission success while strengthening the effectiveness and preparedness of the soldiers and units entrusted to her care; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Barrett demonstrated an enduring commitment to the welfare and professional growth of fellow service members through her service as an Equal Opportunity Representative, Unit Prevention Leader, Retention Noncommissioned Officer, and Safety Noncommissioned Officer, fostering a culture grounded in respect, resilience, and excellence; and

WHEREAS, she exemplified the highest traditions of military service and embodied the core Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership for future generations of soldiers; and

WHEREAS, continuing her lifelong devotion to service beyond the uniform, Sergeant First Class Barrett has distinguished herself through humanitarian efforts that have uplifted communities and transformed lives; and

WHEREAS, her extraordinary dedication to helping others has been recognized with an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism and the esteemed Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, honors that reflect a lifetime defined by compassion, service, and leadership; and

WHEREAS, her legacy will continue to inspire all who wear the uniform and all who dedicate their lives to service above self.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Yvonne Barrett for her extraordinary service to the United States of America, her steadfast leadership, and her continued commitment to improving the lives of others.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Yvonne Barrett.
