Senate Resolution 895 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Rhett of the 33rd and Harbison of the 15th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Veatra Cruz; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Veatra Cruz is a United States Navy veteran, licensed cosmetologist, and community leader whose work exists at the powerful intersection of service, creativity, and advocacy; and WHEREAS, following her military service, she established a distinguished professional path as a licensed cosmetologist and entrepreneur by founding Veatra Beauty, a purpose-driven brand that advances confidence, healing, and self-care through beauty and creative expression; and WHEREAS, she additionally serves as the founder and chief executive officer of The Women Veterans Company, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and amplifying Black women veterans and other historically marginalized veteran communities as they transition from military to civilian life; and WHEREAS, through sustained community leadership, Veatra Cruz has led and supported numerous community-centered programs across Georgia, including wellness workshops, educational courses, resource referral initiatives, and collaborative events with local businesses, schools, and veteran-serving organizations; and WHEREAS, she has further demonstrated her commitment to service by volunteering hundreds of hours annually, serving in outreach and advisory roles, and applying her professional expertise in marketing, design, education, and event production to uplift individuals and strengthen community networks; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this veteran, entrepreneur, and community leader be appropriately honored for her dedication to service, advocacy, and the well-being of her fellow citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Veatra Cruz for her honorable military service, nonprofit leadership, and continued dedication to community-centered advocacy as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Veatra Cruz.
