## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution would name a stretch of State Route 16 in Coweta County the Ellis Crook Highway, honoring a longtime Senoia businessman and community leader.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia General Assembly honors Ellis Crook, a lifelong Senoia resident, Korean War veteran, and local businessman who founded several companies including McIntosh Finance and served on multiple community boards. The resolution recounts his business career, military service, and civic contributions to Senoia and Coweta County.
The operative effect of the resolution is to designate the portion of State Route 16 in Coweta County between the roundabout at State Route 54 and the intersection with Broad Street in Senoia as the Ellis Crook Highway. It directs the Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the dedication, and it directs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies of the resolution to Mr. Crook and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Dedicates the section of State Route 16 in Coweta County between the State Route 54 roundabout and Broad Street in Senoia as the Ellis Crook Highway.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the new highway name.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Ellis Crook and to the Department of Transportation.
- Makes no changes to traffic laws, funding, or regulations; it is a ceremonial naming measure.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain signage, and residents and drivers in Senoia and Coweta County who use that stretch of State Route 16. It also formally honors Ellis Crook and his family.

### Why it matters

The practical effect is limited to signage: drivers on that stretch of State Route 16 will see it identified as the Ellis Crook Highway, and the Department of Transportation will bear the task of installing and maintaining those signs. It does not change traffic rules or funding.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses detail Ellis Crook's business career, military service, and civic leadership in Coweta County.
- The first resolving clause designates the named portion of State Route 16 in Coweta County as the Ellis Crook Highway.
- The second resolving clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs for the dedication.
- The final resolving clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Mr. Crook and the Department of Transportation.
