WHEREAS, Ms. Abigail Savoie grew up in Fayette County, Georgia, playing soccer, cheerleading, swimming, and running; and WHEREAS, she attended Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, which she affectionately referred to as "Milli," and was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority; and WHEREAS, Ms. Savoie studied public health and had hopes of joining the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention upon graduation, where she could put her compassion and heart into helping others; and WHEREAS, she was a people person who cared for the well-being of other people, always the first to help out another in need; and WHEREAS, Ms. Savoie's life was tragically cut short on October 21, 2022, when her vehicle was struck at the intersection of GA 16 and High Falls Road and England Chapel Road near Jackson, Georgia, by a driver who ran a stop sign; and WHEREAS, although the loss of this smart, energetic, and beautiful soul can never be filled, her death called attention to the other numerous accidents at the intersection where her vehicle was struck and resulted in plans to convert the intersection into a safer roundabout, likely saving the lives of other motorists; and WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Ms. Abigail Savoie will long be remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Ms. Abigail Savoie and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
