A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team for their historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympics; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in the year 2026, on the world's grandest stage of international athletic competition, the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team represented this nation with courage, determination, and unwavering resolve at the Olympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina, Italy; and

WHEREAS, in a championship contest that will be remembered as one of the most thrilling in Olympic history, Team USA defeated their longtime rivals from Canada in a dramatic overtime victory to capture the gold medal; and

WHEREAS, this hard-fought triumph marked the third Olympic gold medal in the proud history of the United States Women's Hockey program and reaffirmed America's place among the elite in international competition; and

WHEREAS, the team demonstrated extraordinary resilience, mounting a late comeback in the gold medal game and displaying the grit, unity, and perseverance that define the American spirit; and

WHEREAS, veteran leadership and emerging talent combined seamlessly, exemplified by captain Hilary Knight and her teammates, whose skill, selflessness, and dedication inspired millions of Americans watching at home and abroad; and

WHEREAS, the team's success is the result of years of sacrifice, disciplined preparation, and an unbreakable commitment to excellence, serving as a powerful example to young athletes—especially young women—across this nation; and

WHEREAS, at a time when moments of unity are deeply cherished, the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team brought Americans together in celebration and pride, reminding us all of what can be accomplished when teamwork and determination prevail; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of these remarkable athletes be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team for their historic gold medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games and for their outstanding representation of the United States of America.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
