A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Maya T. Prabhu for her outstanding work with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a statehouse reporter covering Georgia government and politics; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Maya T. Prabhu began her career with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2017 with a focus on pivotal social issues, including impeccable reporting on reproductive healthcare, the criminal justice system, and legislative politics; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Spelman College, Maya obtained her Masters in Journalism with a concentration in public affairs reporting from the University of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, she maintains a record of awards for her exceptional reporting and storytelling, including being a four time Salute to Excellence Award finalist, issued by the National Association of Black Journalists; and

WHEREAS, Maya is also a 2020 Salute to Excellence Award finalist for her work in legislative reporting with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the category of Single Story in A Newspaper circulation under 150,000; and

WHEREAS, she has continuously gone above and beyond in her pursuits to empower the people of Georgia through truth, storytelling, and transparent reflections of the lives' of everyday Georgians; and

WHEREAS, Maya is the embodiment of integrity, excellence, and esteemed character, and her work is a reflection of courageous and groundbreaking journalism; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished journalist be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Maya T. Prabhu for her time, dedication, and excellent work with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as well as extend best wishes for her continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Maya T. Prabhu.
