Ginn of the 47th and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing May 5, 2026, as Georgia Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County Day; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County (JLGHC), founded by Idalu Slack
in 1951, is dedicated to shaping a future where leadership by women transforms lives and
strengthens communities across Northeast Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County is composed of women who are
committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving
the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers; and
WHEREAS, founded to address critical needs in Northeast Georgia, JLGHC has a long and
distinguished history of service, civic engagement, and philanthropic leadership that has
strengthened families, enriched educational opportunities, and enhanced the quality of life
for residents throughout Northeast Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the JLGHC has successfully spearheaded countless initiatives including but not
limited to the Gateway Domestic Violence Center, the Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy
Center, Northeast Georgia Speech and Hearing Center, Elachee Nature Science Center,
WomenSource, Publishing of Perennials Cookbook, and the Annual Charity Ball––all of
which have served tens of thousands of women and children in Gainesville-Hall County; and
WHEREAS, the JLGHC has championed major community efforts, most notably the Diaper
Bank of North Georgia, which was founded in 2018 and has delivered more than one million
diapers to support babies and families in need; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the contributions of the JLGHC be recognized and
celebrated for their vital role in advancing civic leadership by women and community
well-being in Northeast Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize May 5, 2026, as Georgia Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County Day to honor
and celebrate 75 years of leadership by women in our community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the
press.
