## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution would name a stretch of State Route 9 in Fulton County, from Old Milton Parkway to Mayfield Road, the United States Treasurer Brandon L. Beach Highway.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution honors Brandon L. Beach, a former Georgia state senator who now serves as United States Treasurer, by dedicating a specific segment of Georgia road to him. The resolution recounts his career, including two decades representing District 21 in the Georgia Senate, his leadership of the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Economic Development and Tourism Committee, and his work with regional transportation and development authorities before his appointment as U.S. Treasurer.
The operative part of the resolution designates the portion of State Route 9 between Old Milton Parkway and Mayfield Road in Fulton County as the United States Treasurer Brandon L. Beach Highway. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the dedication, and directs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies of the resolution to Beach and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Dedicates the section of State Route 9 between Old Milton Parkway and Mayfield Road in Fulton County as the United States Treasurer Brandon L. Beach Highway.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the highway dedication.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Brandon L. Beach and the Department of Transportation.
- Recites Beach's career in the Georgia Senate and his current role as United States Treasurer as the basis for the honor.

### Who it affects

This mainly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain new road signage, and drivers on that stretch of State Route 9 in Fulton County who will see the new highway name. It is a ceremonial honor for Brandon L. Beach.

### Why it matters

The practical effect is limited to naming a road segment and posting new signs; it does not change traffic laws, funding, or how the road functions. Its significance is symbolic, recognizing a Georgian's public service career and current federal position.

### Key provisions

- The resolving clause designates the named portion of State Route 9 in Fulton County as the United States Treasurer Brandon L. Beach Highway.
- A further resolved clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs for the dedication.
- A final clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Beach and to the Department of Transportation.
