A RESOLUTION

Congratulating and commending Ms. Sharon J. Hill for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the first African American female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus; and

WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify the leadership and inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Sharon J. Hill is a devoted community leader and tireless advocate for social justice and voting rights; and

WHEREAS, she previously served as a media relations strategist and publicist for Senator Donzella James and has contributed her expertise to numerous other distinguished political campaigns and offices throughout the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has held various leadership roles within her community, including service with the NAACP and the League of Women Voters of Georgia, among many other prestigious organizations; and

WHEREAS, her outstanding work has earned her recognition throughout the State of Georgia, including being named the 2021 United Nations Human Rights Ambassador by Trinity University, the 2020 Woman of Action by the League of Women Voters Marietta- Cobb County, the 2019 Cobb County NAACP MLK Day "Living the Dream" Award, and numerous other distinguished honors; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Sharon J. Hill is a woman of unassuming greatness whose humble acts of kindness and generosity have uplifted her entire community; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate and commend Ms. Sharon J. Hill for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for her continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ms. Sharon J. Hill.
