A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart and dedicating an intersection in his memory; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart was born in Junction City, Georgia, and received his early education at the County Line School of Taylor County, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lockhart dedicated 24 years to Central of Georgia Railroad and worked for 26 years with Murphy and Orr, Inc., of Forest Park, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Lockhart was an active member of Forest Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for more than 50 years, served as assistant chairperson on the board of deacons, sang in the chorus, and served on the trustee board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lockhart was a great supporter of athletics, founding the Atlanta Spartans Athletic Club and helping to lead the Forest Park Braves and Decatur Spartans to years of success; and
WHEREAS, the community of Forest Park was blessed to have Mr. Lockhart's vision and engagement and he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Forest Park's youth through fund raisers for their extra curricular activities; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his memory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 138 Spur and State Route 3 in Clayton County is dedicated as the Robert Daniel Lockhart Memorial Intersection. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Robert Daniel Lockhart Memorial Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Robert Daniel Lockhart and to the Department of Transportation.
