A RESOLUTION

Celebrating the arrival of the Upper Austrian Parliamentary Delegation in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has maintained a longstanding, mutually beneficial relationship with the Republic of Austria, which established a consular presence in Georgia in 1949 and is represented by Ambassador Petra Schneebauer at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Georgia is home to the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria, where Mr. Paul Seefried has served as honorary consul since 2020; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Department of Economic Development has maintained continuous representation in Europe since 1973, strengthening economic ties and assisting European firms locating in Georgia and Georgia companies exporting to Europe; and

WHEREAS, Georgia and the Province of Upper Austria are members of the Regional Leaders Summit, fostering cooperation among leading international regions; and

WHEREAS, academic, legal, and cultural partnerships continue through University System of Georgia study abroad programs in Austria, collaboration between the Atlanta Center for International Arbitration and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre, and artistic exchanges and museum exhibitions; and

WHEREAS, in 2023, Austrian visitors contributed $7.9 million to Georgia's economy, and trade between Georgia and Austria remains strong, with $34 million in Georgia exports and $1.3 billion in imports.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body celebrate the arrival of the Upper Austrian Parliamentary Delegation in the State of Georgia and extend warm best wishes for a productive and meaningful visit. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Upper Austrian Parliamentary Delegation.
