By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th and Anderson of the 43rd
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending The Flourish Society Inc.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, The Flourish Society Inc. is an intentional sisterhood and advocacy organization
committed to addressing the unique personal, cultural, and communal needs of African
American women through the creation of intentional spaces that nurture leadership,
empowerment, and community transformation; and
WHEREAS, the organization is guided by the philosophy of Holistic Flourishing,
emphasizing authentic connection; holistic growth of the mind, body, and spirit; and the
power of collective impact to uplift families and strengthen communities; and
WHEREAS, through its Legacy Builders Program, the organization invests in youth
development by connecting young people with mentors, fostering leadership skills, and
encouraging cultural pride and identity among the next generation; and
WHEREAS, the organization promotes cultural preservation and empowerment through
initiatives such as Flourishing in the Arts, celebrating the rich contributions of African
Americans and providing creative platforms that amplify artistic expression and cultural
heritage; and
WHEREAS, recognizing health disparities affecting Black women, The Flourish Society Inc.
prioritizes Black health and wellness by promoting emotional and mental well-being,
encouraging physical wellness, and advocating for preventative health education that
supports longevity and vitality; and
WHEREAS, through its commitment to advocacy and civic engagement, The Flourish
Society Inc. works to bridge communities with the legislative process by identifying barriers
to equitable opportunity and encouraging collective action that advances policies benefiting
families and communities; and
WHEREAS, through Global Connect, the organization fosters cultural exchange and global
awareness, strengthening connections across the African diaspora and promoting a broader
understanding of shared heritage and global community; and
WHEREAS, The Flourish Society Inc. continues to strengthen communities through event
programming, philanthropy, and civic engagement that promote multi-generational
leadership, empowerment, and sustainable community impact.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend The Flourish Society Inc. for its many outstanding contributions on
behalf of the citizens of this state as well as extend best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The Flourish
Society Inc.
