Senate Resolution 97 By: Senators Dixon of the 45th, Goodman of the 8th, Hatchett of the 50th, Strickland of the 42nd and Cowsert of the 46th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Robert Wayne Mock Sr.; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Robert Wayne Mock Sr., a distinguished jurist and devoted public servant, has dedicated over four decades of his life to upholding the law and ensuring justice within Gwinnett County, Georgia; and WHEREAS, after graduating from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1976, Robert Wayne Mock Sr. embarked on an esteemed career in the legal profession, initially serving the community through private practice; and WHEREAS, in 1980, he began his unparalleled service to the Gwinnett County Judicial System, initially serving as the Recorder's Court Solicitor, a position he held with distinction for seven years, and making history as the first-ever solicitor appointed for Gwinnett County Recorder's Court; and WHEREAS, his exemplary service and commitment to justice led to his appointment as the Recorder's Court Judge in 1987 by the Superior Court, a testament to his integrity and judicial acumen; and WHEREAS, recognizing his outstanding contributions and leadership, Governor Zell Miller appointed him as a State Court Judge in 1991, a role in which he served the community with honor and distinction for over two decades; and WHEREAS, in 2004, he assumed the role of State Court Chief Judge, delivering exceptional leadership to the judicial process until his retirement in December 2012; and WHEREAS, even after his retirement and for the next 12 years, he continued to serve the Gwinnett County Judicial System as a Senior Judge, sharing his wisdom and experience to guide the future of the justice system in the county; and WHEREAS, throughout his 45 years of service, Robert Wayne Mock Sr. has been a beacon of justice, honor, and dedication, influencing countless lives and shaping the judicial landscape of Gwinnett County; and WHEREAS, beyond his professional achievements, he is a devoted father of two and a loving grandfather of four, embodying the principles of family, community, and service in all aspects of his life. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Robert Wayne Mock Sr. for his remarkable career and contributions to Gwinnett County and the field of law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Robert Wayne Mock Sr.
