A RESOLUTION

Commending the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant upon its 20th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, established in 2006 in Tallapoosa, Georgia, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant; and

WHEREAS, since beginning transmission production, the plant has grown from a small assembly operation into a 575,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility that represents more than $600 million in cumulative capital investments; and

WHEREAS, the plant produces Honda's state-of-the-art 10-speed automatic transmissions and has an annual production capacity of 375,000 V-6 automatic transmissions; and

WHEREAS, Honda is an important manufacturing employer in the Tallapoosa and the Haralson County region, and the Georgia Transmission Plant provides jobs for nearly 480 associates; and

WHEREAS, its employees are staunch supporters of Haralson County who unselfishly devote innumerable hours of their time and talents to the community through charitable initiatives and rural health care programs; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary plant be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Honda Georgia Transmission Plant upon the grand occasion its 20th anniversary as well as extend best wishes for many more years of successful operation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
