House Resolution 31EX By: Representatives Adeyina of the 110th, Beckles of the 96th, Dawson of the 65th, Schofield of the 63rd, Burnough of the 77th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and honoring the Haiti National Football Team for qualifying for and competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the people of the State of Georgia join millions of supporters around the world in celebrating the remarkable achievement of the Haiti National Football Team, known affectionately as Les Grenadiers, in qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking Haiti's first appearance in the tournament since 1974; and WHEREAS, Haiti's qualification ended a 52-year absence from the world's most prestigious sporting event and stands as a testament to the resilience, determination, and excellence of Haitian athletes and coaches; and WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Sébastien Migné, Haiti earned its place among the world's elite football nations and has inspired Haitians and supporters throughout the State of Georgia, the United States, and the global Haitian diaspora; and WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to one of the largest Haitian-American communities in the southeastern United States, whose cultural, economic, educational, civic, and entrepreneurial contributions enrich the fabric of our state every day; and H. R. 31EX WHEREAS, the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce Inc. (GAHCCI), representing Haitian-American businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders throughout the State of Georgia, has been a steadfast advocate for the advancement, visibility, and success of the Haitian community and proudly joins in celebrating the historic achievement of the Haiti National Football Team; and WHEREAS, the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce Inc. recognizes the Haiti National Football Team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a moment of extraordinary national pride and international recognition, reflecting the resilience, excellence, and enduring spirit of the Haitian people and serving as an inspiration to Haitian-Americans across Georgia and the nation; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Haiti's national team serve as a powerful symbol of hope, unity, perseverance, and national pride during a historic moment for the Haitian people; and WHEREAS, the members of the Haiti National Football Team whose talent, dedication, and commitment earned the honor of representing the Republic of Haiti at the 2026 FIFA World Cup are Goalkeepers Josue Duverger, Alexandre Pierre, and Johny Placide; Defenders Ricardo Ade, Carlens Arcus, Hannes Delcroix, Jean-Kevin Duverne, Martin Experience, Duke Lacroix, Garven Metusala, Wilguens Paugain, and Keeto Thermoncy; Midfielders Carl Fred Sainte, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Danley Jean Jacques, Woodensky Pierre, and Dominique Simon; and Forwards Josue Casimir, Louicius Deedson, Derrick Etienne Jr., Yassin Fortune, Wilson Isidor, Lenny Joseph, Duckens Nazon, Frantzdy Pierrot, and Ruben Providence; and H. R. 31EX WHEREAS, the coaching and technical staff, led by Head Coach Sébastien Migné, have demonstrated exceptional leadership, discipline, and commitment in preparing and guiding the Haiti National Football Team to compete on the world stage and have played an integral role in this historic achievement; and WHEREAS, these players, coaches, and support personnel have become ambassadors for Haiti and role models for future generations of athletes throughout Georgia, the United States, Haiti, and the broader Caribbean community; and WHEREAS, the State of Georgia proudly recognizes the dedication, sacrifice, and achievement demonstrated by the Haiti National Football Team as they represent their nation on the global stage and inspire people around the world through their perseverance and sportsmanship. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and honor the Haiti National Football Team, Head Coach Sébastien Migné, the coaching staff, and all players for their historic qualification for and participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
