House Resolution 4EX By: Representatives Davis of the 87th, Drenner of the 85th, Mitchell of the 88th, Schofield of the 63rd, Scott of the 76th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs was born on June 20, 1926, to Claudia Smith and John Jackson Sr., and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 100th birthday; and WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs spent her early years in Smith Chapel AME Church, a congregation built by her grandparents, and later became a devoted member of Brooks Memorial Methodist Church, where she is proudly recognized today as the church's oldest living member; and WHEREAS, throughout her life, she has dedicated innumerable hours of her time and energy toward her community, serving as president of multiple Parent Teacher Associations, working in public school systems, and owning and operating a successful restaurant and catering business for 50 years; and WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the foundation of success from which her family members have developed and flourished, H. R. 4EX as evidenced by her two remarkable sons, Jeffrey and Bruce, as well as her three wonderful grandchildren, Ashley, Solomon, and Ananda; and WHEREAS, at 100 years old, Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs continues to inspire those around her with her energy, humor, and love of dancing, laughter, and time spent with family and friends; and WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime and we salute her contributions to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf of her community and extended family; and WHEREAS, by the example Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of her family and community; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 100th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Julia Lee Jackson Dobbs.
