A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District upon its 10th Anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District was formed on May 17, 2016, and it now celebrates ten years of service to Gwinnett County and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the District has become an economic cornerstone of the region, home to 7 percent of Gwinnett County's jobs and generating a remarkable $15.4 billion annual economic impact on Georgia's economy; and

WHEREAS, the District is guided by a clear and inspiring mission: to create and maintain a connected, safe, and attractive business, arts, and entertainment district—a vibrant downtown for Gwinnett County; and

WHEREAS, over the past decade, the District has invested millions of dollars in lasting public improvements, including roadway and intersection projects, transit upgrades, sidewalks and trails, security cameras, landscaping enhancements, and signage and banners that beautify and strengthen the community; and

WHEREAS, the District has enriched the cultural life of the region through public art, including one of the largest underpass murals in the country, transforming public spaces into sources of pride and inspiration; and

WHEREAS, through these investments in safety, connectivity, and beauty, the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District has advanced economic vitality, enhanced quality of life, and helped shape a vibrant downtown that serves residents, workers, and visitors alike throughout House District 96 and beyond.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Sugarloaf Community Improvement District upon the grand occasion of its 10th Anniversary, express their gratitude for its outstanding contributions to Gwinnett County and the State of Georgia, and extend best wishes for continued success in the decade ahead.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
