26 LC 129 0528 House Resolution 1005 By: Representatives Burnough of the 77th, Scott of the 76th, Flournoy of the 74th, and Bell of the 75th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Deetra Poindexter upon being named T he Georgia1 Association of Conservation Districts’ 2025 Supervisor of the Year; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) held their annual3 Hall of Fame Banquet on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, honoring and awarding individuals who4 have gone above and beyond to further conservation efforts for our state; and5 WHEREAS, this year, Deetra Poindexter, District Supervisor for the Clayton County6 Conservation District, was named the 2025 Supervisor of the Year; and7 WHEREAS, this prestigious award recognizes her exemplary achievements, leadership, and8 service to GACD and local communities; and9 WHEREAS, Deetra Poindexter's passion for getting youth involved with their community,10 and the source of their food production, is evidenced dramatically through her commitment11 to attending various school events including college and career fairs, STEM nights, and12 agriculture field days, as well as her vital role in the distri ct's education and outreach13 programs; and14 H. R. 1005 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0528 WHEREAS, additionally, Deetra Poindexter diligently ensures students and educators are15 aware of programs, such as the Natural Resource Conservation Wo rkshop; passionately16 teaches students about soil and water conservation in Clayton C ounty; and is instrumental17 in promoting and coordinating the annual poster contest; and18 WHEREAS, initiatives planned and hosted by Deetra Poindexter, such as the “All Growers19 Meet and Greet,” where she helped build relationships between community gardeners, local20 restaurant owners, and farmers; the annual local Wetlands Festi val; and her various other21 community events, have left a significant impact on Clayton Cou nty and the State of22 Georgia; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le individual be24 appropriately honored.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body recognize and commend Deetra Poindexter, congratulate her upon27 being named The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts’ 2025 Supervisor of the28 Year, and extend their best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 Deetra Poindexter.32 H.
