26 LC 129 0525 Senate Resolution 562 By: Senator Rhett of the 33rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Chesley McNeil; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Chesley McNeil is a highly regarded member of Omega Ps i Phi Fraternity2 Incorporated, the first fraternity founded at a historically Black college, and is active in the3 Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter, a prominent civic service and charitable organization serving4 Cobb County; and5 WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil has received the highest honor of Omega Psi Phi as the 20256 Omega Man of the Year by the Chi Gamma Gamma Brotherhood, in re cognition of his7 outstanding leadership to the Fraternity at the International, District, State, and Chapter8 levels; and9 WHEREAS, he was initiated into Omega Psi Phi in 2012, becoming an exemplary Omega10 Man giving generously of his time, talent, and treasures to programs that uplift communities;11 and12 WHEREAS, in addition to mentoring students in Cobb County and Marietta City Schools,13 the 2025 Omega Man of the Year serves as an Adjunct Professor a t Kennesaw State14 University; and15 S. R. 562 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0525 WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil serves as the Chairman of the Board of the 2nd Century Invictus16 Fund, the independent philanthropic component of Chi Gamma Gamma, and recently steered17 to fruition the landmark creation of a Scholarship Endowment Fu nd at Kennesaw State18 University providing scholarship funds for high achieving scholars; and19 WHEREAS, for several years he has held the position of Membership Selection - Chapter20 Coordinator, taking lead responsibilities for identifying, educating, and training meritorious21 college-educated men into the graduate Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; and 22 WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in Atlanta on the NBC-TV23 affiliate 11-Alive; earning awards including the prestigious American Meteorological Society24 Seal of Approval and being named by the Governor of Georgia to the Severe Weather Task25 Force in 2013; and26 WHEREAS, he is a devout Christian serving on the Board of Deacons at Historic Mt. Zion27 Baptist Church in Marietta, where he also teaches Adult Bible Study classes; and 28 WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Wesley College, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in29 Applied Communications, and later studied geo-sciences at Missi ssippi State University,30 earning a Master of Science Degree in Meteorology.31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body32 recognize and commend Chelsey McNeil for his excellent, efficient, unselfish, and dedicated33 public service to the State of Georgia and extend best wishes f or continued34 telecommunications excellence and community service endeavors as a member of Omega35 Psi Phi Fraternity.36 S.
