26 LC 112 3694 House Resolution 1002 By: Representatives Jones of the 143rd, Herring of the 145th, McQueen of the 61st, McClain of the 109th, and Berry of the 56th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life, legacy, and service of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Black wood; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood was born on January 2, 1971, in Macon,3 Georgia, to Booker T. Lamar and the late Dorothy Allen Lamar, and she remained a beloved4 daughter, wife, family member, friend, and community servant throughout her life; and5 WHEREAS, she departed this life on November 28, 2025, leaving her family, church, and6 community with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss; and7 WHEREAS, she was united in marriage to Dr. Kimathi Blackwood on September 20, 2014,8 and shared her life with a devoted family, including her brothe r, Keith A. Lamar Sr. of9 Conyers, Georgia; her nephew, Keith A. Lamar Jr., Esq., and his wife, Adrienne Thomas10 Lamar, of Mableton, Georgia; her aunt, Dorothy Card; and a host of cousins and extended11 relatives who cherished her dearly; and12 WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood was a faithful lifelong member of St. Paul African13 Methodist Episcopal Church in Macon, Georgia, where she served diligently on the Steward14 H. R. 1002 - 1 - 26 LC 112 3694 Board, sang in the St. Paul Choir, contributed to the Christian Education Department,15 supported the First-Aid Committee, and volunteered joyfully with any ministry in need; and16 WHEREAS, she received her early education at Mount de Sales Academy, graduating in the17 Class of 1989, and continued her academic pursuits at Wesleyan College and the University18 of Georgia before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy from Florida A&M University College19 of Pharmacy in 1996; and20 WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood began her distinguished career as a pharmacy intern at21 Revco Pharmacy (now CVS Health), later serving patients across Middle Georgia and22 surrounding counties for 29 years at Revco, CVS, Kroger, and Regency Hospital; and23 WHEREAS, throughout her professional journey, she excelled as a board-certified24 community and clinical pharmacist, fulfilling roles as floating pharmacist, staff pharmacist,25 and pharmacy manager, consistently demonstrating compassion, precision, and unwavering26 dedication to patient care; and27 WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood was a proud and engaged member of numerous28 organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsil on Omega Omega29 Chapter—initiated March 8, 1998, and recognized as a Silver Sta r Soror; contributed30 meaningfully to the Federated Women of America (now the General Federation of Women's31 Clubs) and The Links, Incorporated, Macon Chapter; and served a s Black K.A.R.E. Chair32 (Kidney Awareness Resources Education); and33 WHEREAS, she further extended her leadership and service throug h involvement in the34 Middle Georgia Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association, Unrestri cted Praise Gospel35 Choir, Macon-Middle Georgia Minority Pharmacists, the Georgia Pharmacy Association, the36 H. R. 1002 - 2 - 26 LC 112 3694 Golden Girls Prayer Group, several community prayer circles, an d the Belvedere37 Manor-Weaver Heights Neighborhood Association; and38 WHEREAS, Dr. Lamar-Blackwood lived a life of purpose, faith, si sterhood, and service,39 leaving a powerful legacy that continues to inspire all who knew her; and40 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstandi ng accomplishments,41 community impact, and cherished memory of this remarkable Georgian be recognized and42 honored by this body.43 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that44 the members of this body honor the life of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood; extend heartfelt45 condolences to her family, friends, church family, and communit y; and express profound46 gratitude for her decades of professional excellence and steadfast commitment to service.47 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized48 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the49 family of Dr. Tammi Lamar-Blackwood.50 H.
