26 LC 62 0263/AP House Bill 940 (AS PASSED HOUSE AND SENATE) By: Representatives Ford of the 170th and O’Steen of the 169th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act creating and establishing the State Court of Ti ft County, approved1 March 30, 1971 (Ga. L. 1971, p. 2468), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 5,2 2006 (Ga. L. 2006, p. 4575), and an Act approved May 3, 2016 (G a. L. 2016, p. 3999), so3 as to provide for the compensation of the judge of such court; to provide for the4 compensation of the solicitor-general of such court; to provide for related matters; to repeal5 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:7 SECTION 1.8 An Act creating and establishing the State Court of Tift County, approved March 30, 19719 (Ga. L. 1971, p. 2468), as amended, particularly by an Act appr oved May 5, 2006 (Ga. L.10 2006, p. 4575), and an Act approve d May 3, 2016 (Ga. L. 2016, p . 3999), is amended by11 striking the second unnumbered paragraph of Section 4 and inser ting in lieu thereof the12 following:13 "The judge of such court shall be prohibited during the term of his or her office from14 engaging in the practice of law. The judge shall be compensated by an annual salary fixed15 by the Board of Commissioners of Tift County in an amount not less than $100,000.00 nor16 H. B. 940 - 1 - 26 LC 62 0263/AP more than 75 percent of the state annual salary paid to a judge of the superior court of the17 Tifton Judicial Circuit, and which salary shall be paid from the general fund of said county18 in 12 monthly installments."19 20 SECTION 2.21 Said Act is further amended by revising Section 8 as follows:22 "Section 8. The office of the solicitor-general shall be full time. The solicitor-general shall23 be compensated by an annual salary to be fixed by the Board of Commissioners of Tift24 County and to be not less than $90,000.00, and which salary shall be paid from the general25 fund of said county."26 SECTION 3.27 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.28 H.
