A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Charlton County Chief Ranger Roger T odd of the Georgia1
Forestry Commission as the recipient of the 2025 Director's Award and for his outstanding2
service to the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.3
WHEREAS, the Georgia Forestry Commission plays a critical role in protecting Georgia's4
natural resources, ensuring public safety, and supporting the citizens and landowners of this5
state through wildfire prevention and suppression, emergency response, forest management,6
and community assistance; and7
WHEREAS, Chief Ranger Roger Todd has honorably served the Georg ia Forestry8
Commission in Charlton County for nearly 25 years with unwaveri ng professionalism,9
leadership, and commitment to the agency's mission, consistently demonstrating the highest10
standards of integrity, duty, and respect; and11
WHEREAS, through his steady leadership and dedication, Chief Ranger Todd has built and12
guided a team of forestry professionals who exemplify preparedness, excellence in service,13
and devotion to public safety; and14

WHEREAS, on April 10, 2025, tragedy struck Charlton County when a single-engine aircraft15
carrying six passengers–including two young children–overturned upon landing at Davis16
Airport and immediately became engulfed in flames; and17
WHEREAS, Chief Ranger Todd and personnel from the Charlton Coun ty Unit heard the18
crash and responded without hesitation, placing themselves in harm's way to protect the lives19
of others; and20
WHEREAS, under Chief Ranger Todd's direction, the responding personnel worked swiftly,21
decisively, and courageously to suppress the fire and rescue the trapped passengers–actions22
that prevented loss of life and ensured that all six occupants survived the crash; and23
WHEREAS, the safe outcome of this tragic accident is credited i n large measure to the24
training, readiness, judgment, and leadership fostered by Chief Ranger Todd; and25
WHEREAS, his day-to-day commitment to his rangers, to the citizens of Charlton County,26
and to the people of Georgia reflects great credit upon himself and the Georgia Forestry27
Commission; and28
WHEREAS, in recognition of his exemplary service, leadership excellence, and lifesaving29
actions, Chief Ranger Roger Todd was selected as the 2025 Director's Award recipient, one30
of the highest honors bestowed by the Georgia Forestry Commission; and31
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is proud to recognize individuals who selflessly devote32
their careers to protecting lives, communities, and natural resources.33

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that34
the members of this body recognize and commend Chief Ranger Rog er Todd for his35
outstanding service, exemplary leadership, and heroism; congratulate him upon being named36
the Georgia Forestry Commission 2025 Director's Award recipient; and extend to him their37
sincere gratitude and best wishes for continued success.38
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized39
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Chief40
Ranger Roger Todd.41
