26 LC 129 0557 House Resolution 1020 By: Representative Jasperse of the 11th A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating Lucille McMullen; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Lucille McMullen was born on January 18, 1921 in Jasper, Georgia, and this2 year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 105th birthday; and3 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high4 ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and 5 WHEREAS, for the duration of World War II, Lucille McMullen selfless served as a nurse6 with the United States Army, valiantly and courageously serving her country and caring for7 her fellow Americans; and8 WHEREAS, Lucille McMullen, fondly known as “Miss Lucille,” possesses the vast wisdom9 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved10 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and11 WHEREAS, a proud member of American Legion Post 149, she has spent her life devoted12 to supporting veterans; and 13 H. R. 1020 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0557 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for14 strength, integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and15 WHEREAS, a kind and generous person, Lucille McMullen brings jo y and happiness to16 American Legion Post 149, her family, and to the many friends and neighbors who have the17 great pleasure of knowing her; and18 WHEREAS, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime19 and we salute her contribution to its progress by her own hard work and good citizenship;20 and21 WHEREAS, by the example Lucille McMullen has made of her life, she makes this world22 a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and pro per that she be appropriately23 recognized during this very special and memorable time.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body commend Lucille McMullen for her unsel fish, dedicated, and26 loving service to the members of her family and country, congratulate her on the remarkable27 occasion of her 105th birthday, and extend their most sincere b est wishes for continued28 health and happiness.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 Lucille McMullen. 32 H.
