26 LC 48 1672 House Bill 994 By: Representatives Cheokas of the 151 st, Dunahoo of the 31 st, Cannon of the 172 nd, McDonald III of the 26th, Lumsden of the 12th, and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 16-11-30 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to riot,1 so as to provide for a felony penalty; to amend Code Section 17-6-1 of the Official Code of2 Georgia Annotated, relating to when offenses bailable, procedur e, schedule of bails, and3 appeal bonds, so as to include the offense of riot; to provide for related matters; to repeal4 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 Code Section 16-11-30 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated , relating to riot, is8 amended as follows:9 "16-11-30.10 (a) Any two or more persons who shall do an unlawful act of violence or any other act in11 a violent and tumultuous manner commit the offense of riot.12 (b) Any persons who violate subsection (a) of this Code sectio n are guilty of a13 misdemeanor felony punishable by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than 2014 years."15 H. B. 994 - 1 - 26 LC 48 1672 SECTION 2.16 Code Section 17-6-1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to when offenses17 bailable, procedure, schedule of bails, and appeal bonds, is am ended in subsection (a) by18 revising paragraphs (13) and (14) and adding a new paragraph to read as follows:19 "(13) Violating Code Section 16-5-46; and20 (14) Violations of Chapter 15 of Title 16; and21 (15) Riot."22 SECTION 3.23 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.24 H.
