26 LC 129 0561 House Resolution 1027 By: Representatives Cheokas of the 151st, Cooper of the 45th, and Dempsey of the 13th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Ronald “Ron” F. Wakefield for his outstanding public service1 with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities; and for2 other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Ronald “Ron” F. Wakefield has long been recognized by the citizens of Georgia4 for his dedicated service and steadfast commitment to individua ls with intellectual and5 developmental disabilities; and6 WHEREAS, he began his career in 1982 with a program administered by Temple University7 in Pennsylvania, advancing from a direct care worker to supervi sory and leadership roles,8 consistently demonstrating excellence, compassion, and integrity in the delivery of services;9 and10 WHEREAS, after relocating to Georgia in 2005, Mr. Wakefield ser ved the Georgia11 Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) in multiple12 leadership capacities, including Case Expeditor in Region 3, Regional Service Administrator13 in Region 1, and Director of Field Operations, earning the resp ect and admiration of14 colleagues, stakeholders, and the community alike; and15 H. R. 1027 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0561 WHEREAS, Mr. Wakefield's leadership has been characterized by vision, dedication, and16 an unwavering commitment to collaboration with individuals served, families, providers, and17 public officials, fostering innovation, quality, and excellence across the State of Georgia's18 developmental disability services; and19 WHEREAS, his educational background, including a Bachelor of Business Administration20 from Temple University and numerous professional certifications in developmental disability21 services, coupled with his experience and tireless work ethic, exemplify the highest standards22 of public service; and23 WHEREAS, Ronald Wakefield embodies the values and mission of DB HDD, which,24 together with its network of community providers, offers suppor ts and services that help25 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at tain independence and lead26 meaningful, fulfilling lives; and27 WHEREAS, his career reflects a profound dedication to improving the lives of countless28 Georgians and is a reflection of the commitment, professionalis m, and excellence that29 DBHDD employees strive to uphold; and30 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. Wakefield 's outstanding31 achievements, leadership, and commitment to public service be recognized and commended.32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that33 the members of this body recognize and commend Ronald “Ron” F. Wakefield for his34 outstanding public service with the Georgia Department of Behav ioral Health and35 Developmental Disabilities, congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement, and36 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.37 H.
