Fakorede by the House of Representatives; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable3 hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and country4 as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as a physician, community leader, and5 tireless advocate for rural and underserved communities; and6 WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede, the Chief Executive Officer at Cardiovas cular Solutions of7 Central Mississippi, is unwaveringly committed to providing tim ely, high-quality8 cardiovascular care and educating communities to reduce preventable amputations; and 9 WHEREAS, he is a nationally recognized leader in raising awareness about peripheral artery10 disease (PAD) and the amputation epidemic; his passionate advoc acy has lead to an 8811 percent reduction in amputations over four years; and12 WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede was instrumental in introducing the bipar tisan Amputation13 Reduction and Compassion (ARC) Act, which led to the creation o f the inaugural14 Congressional PAD Caucus; and15 H. R. 1028 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0560 WHEREAS, Dr. Fakorede serves on the Board of Directors for the Amputee Coalition and16 is the PAD initiative chair for the Association of Black Cardiologists; and17 WHEREAS, he has contributed to several influential bodies inclu ding the Society for18 Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the American Hear t Association PAD19 National Action Plan, and the Society for Interventional Radiology; and20 WHEREAS, his groundbreaking work has been recognized with the A merican Heart21 Association’s 2023 Louis B. Russell Award, the Association of Black Cardiologists’ 202422 Public Policy Award, and inclusion in the 2024 STAT News STATUS List, which honors23 the most impactful leaders in health, medicine, and science; and24 WHEREAS, in 2024, Dr. Fakorede was the subject of the award-win ning documentary25 Bloodlines, Mississippi and the Nobel Prize Foundation’s exhibition Fighting Disease– Three26 Stories From the Fields of Medicine; and27 WHEREAS, the documentary highlights Dr. Fakorede’s revolutionar y work combating28 diabetes-related amputations in the Mississippi Delta’s undeserved communities; and29 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments30 of this distinguished physician, advocate, and community leader.31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Foluso A. Fakorede for his efficient,33 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; and extend the most sincere best wishes34 for continued health and happiness.35 H.
