26 LC 129 0584 House Resolution 1040 By: Representatives Flournoy of the 74th, Holly of the 116th, Douglas of the 78th, Santos of the 117th, Kahaian of the 81st, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring Echo Park Speedway; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Echo Park Speedway, constructed in 1960, is a 1.54 mil e raceway that has2 hosted a variety of events including NASCAR and IndyCar races; and3 WHEREAS, located in Henry County, Georgia, the Echo Park Speedway is the county’s top4 tourism attraction as well as a significant contributor to the community and citizens of the5 surrounding area; and6 WHEREAS, active more than 300 days a year, Echo Park Speedway produces an estimated7 $250 million in economic impact and supports over 2,800 jobs; and8 WHEREAS, the speedway’s enticing events attract over one millio n visitors from all 509 states and more than a dozen countries annually; and10 WHEREAS, consistently serving the community, Speedway Children's Charities Atlanta has11 given back almost one million dollars to area charities over the past 10 years; and12 H. R. 1040 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0584 WHEREAS, dedicated to the safety of all Georgians, Echo Park Sp eedway serves as an13 evacuation location from hurricanes and other natural disasters; and14 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the economic and community15 impact of the Echo Park Speedway.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17 the members of this body honor the Echo Park Speedway and exten d best wishes for18 continued growth and success.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the21 public and the press.22 H.
