26 LC 129 0566 House Resolution 1045 By: Representatives Hugley of the 141st, Reese of the 140th, and Kendrick of the 95th A RESOLUTION Congratulating Carolyn Wright upon her induction into the Chatt ahoochee Valley Sports1 Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Carolyn Wright is a proud graduate of Alabama State Un iversity, where she3 distinguished herself as a member of the volleyball, track, and cheerleading programs; and 4 WHEREAS, following her time as a student athlete, Carolyn Wright continued to pursue her5 passion for education and athletics as a teacher and coach at M cIntyre Junior High in6 Montgomery, Alabama, and later at Central High School in Phenix City, Georgia; and 7 WHEREAS, during her revolutionary 32-year career at Central Hig h School, Carolyn8 Wright, serving as head track coach from 1991-2011 and head vol leyball coach from9 2002-2018, amassed an outstanding record of 593-375, winning 11 area tiles, 4 regional titles10 and making four Final Four appearances; and 11 WHEREAS, further highlighting her passion and dedication to the sport she founded the12 Mary Jane Riley Volleyball Tournament in 2015; and 13 H. R. 1045 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0566 WHEREAS, throughout her career she demonstrated an unwavering c ommitment to14 excellence, mentorship, and student development both in the classroom and through athletic15 competition; and16 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the service, sports leadership,17 and dedication to student athletes demonstrated by Carolyn Wright. 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this congratulate Carolyn Wright upon her induction into the Chattahoochee20 Valley Sports Hall of Fame and extend best wishes for continued health, happiness, and21 success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to24 Carolyn Wright.25 H.
