SR595: SR595 HOA, COA, and POA Day; recognize and celebrate

26 LC 129 0691 Senate Resolution 595 By: Senator James of the 28th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and celebrating the first HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol; affirming the1 Senate's commitment to listening to homeowners across Georgia; and recognizing civic2 engagement in support of the American Dream of homeownership; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, homeownership remains a foundational pillar of the American Dream, offering4 individuals and fam ilies stability, economic opportunity, and a meaningful connection to5 their communities; and6 WHEREAS, a significant number of Georgians reside in neighborhoods and developments7 governed by Homeowners Associations (HOA), Condominium Owners Associations (COA),8 and Property Owners Associations (POA), which are an integral p art of community life9 throughout this state; and10 WHEREAS, homeowners have raised concerns and shared experiences related to11 transparency, accountability, affordability, communication, and due process within12 association-governed communities; and13 S. R. 595 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0691 WHEREAS, the Georgia Senate recognizes that listening to consti tuents is a core14 responsibility of public service and that respectful, open dialogue strengthens public trust and15 democratic governance; and16 WHEREAS, HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol provides an oppor tunity for17 homeowners to engage constructively with elected officials, sha re lived experiences, and18 advocate for issues affecting their homes, families, and financial well-being; and19 WHEREAS, this Day at the capitol reflects a shared, bipartisan commitment to hearing20 homeowner concerns, understanding emerging housing challenges, and working21 collaboratively-beyond political differences-to protect and strengthen the American Dream22 of homeownership; and23 WHEREAS, civic participation by homeowners and residents contri butes to informed24 policymaking and supports balanced, thoughtful approaches to ho using stability and25 community governance.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 recognize and celebrate the First HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol as a meaningful28 civic engagement event that elevates homeowner voices and encourages respectful dialogue29 between the people of Georgia and their elected officials.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate affirms its commitment t o listening to31 homeowners' concerns, complaints, and emerging challenges and t o working in good32 faith-without regard to partisanship-to address matters impacti ng housing stability,33 community well-being, and the American Dream of homeownership.34 S. R. 595 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0691 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate commends the homeowners who participated35 in this Day at the Capitol for their civic involvement and advo cacy, recognizing their36 engagement as an essential component of a healthy and responsive democracy.37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed38 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the39 press.40 S.
