A RESOLUTION
Recognizing January 25-31, 2026, as Physician Anesthesiologists Week in Georgia at the1
state capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, physician anesthesiologists are responsible for patient safety before, during, and3
after surgery, as well as in pain medicine with the expert ability to lead and navigate all vital4
moments of care; and5
WHEREAS, with 12 to 14 years of education, including medical sc hool, and 12,000 to6
16,000 hours of training, physician anesthesiologists possess t he necessary knowledge to7
understand and treat the entire human body; and8
WHEREAS, physician anesthesiologists are made for this moment, playing a critical role in9
keeping patients safe in this state and community, whether managing a crisis during surgery,10
providing pain management during labor, or treating patients with chronic pain; and11
WHEREAS, the Anesthesia Care Team model, led by physician anesthesiologists, is widely12
recognized as the gold standard of care used in all the nation' s top hospitals to protect13
patients; and14

WHEREAS, physician anesthesiologists are recognized leaders who are committed to safe15
and high-quality patient care, educating patients on anesthesia safety and reducing risks of16
complications; and17
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the dedicated work of these healthcare18
providers be appropriately recognized.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
recognize January 25-31, 2026, as Physician Anesthesiologists W eek in Georgia and21
commend all physician anesthesiologists for their dedication to the health and well-being of22
the citizens of the State of Georgia.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Society25
of Anesthesiologists, the public, and the press. 26
