26 LC 129 0638 House Resolution 1061 By: Representatives McDonald III of the 26 th, Chastain of the 7 th, McCollum of the 30 th, Powell of the 33rd, Scoggins of the 14th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring and commending the firefighters of Georgia and recognizing February 3, 2026, as1 Firefighters Recognition Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, there are more than 30,000 firefighters in the State o f Georgia from 900 fire3 departments who risk their lives every day to provide emergency services; and4 WHEREAS, these services include fire prevention, fire suppressi on, and above all saving5 those whose lives are threatened by fires and other dire situations; and6 WHEREAS, the brave firefighters of Georgia have selflessly comm itted their lives to7 protection of life and property; and8 WHEREAS, these heroes have played a crucial role in maintaining firefighting standards and9 increasing the awareness of fire prevention and suppression methods in Georgia; and10 WHEREAS, because of the sacrifice these outstanding individuals make each day, the11 citizens of Georgia are able to retain a deep sense of security; and12 H. R. 1061 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0638 WHEREAS, in placing the well-being of society above their personal concerns and, in many13 instances, risking their lives for the sake of others, this sta te's firefighters exemplify the14 highest nobility and greatest commitment to their community and humanity; and15 WHEREAS, the firefighters of Georgia continue to set an incredi bly high standard for16 firefighting and public service; and17 WHEREAS, their commitment to the safety of their fellow citizen s is evidenced in their18 exemplary conduct and determination; and19 WHEREAS, it is most fitting and proper that Georgia's firefighters be recognized for their20 effective and dedicated service to the people of the State of Georgia.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body honor and commend each and every firef ighter for their23 outstanding service to the people of this state and for going above and beyond the call of duty24 for their fellow citizens and recognize February 3, 2026, as Firefighters Recognition Day at25 the state capitol.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the28 Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia State Firefighters Association.29 H.
