26 LC 129 0716 Senate Resolution 604 By: Senators Bearden of the 30th, Brass of the 6th and Anavitarte of the 31st A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of James Edwin Busbin; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of James Edwin Busbin on January 19, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, James Edwin Busbin was born on August 15, 1931,during the Great Depression4 in the Bill Arp Community, and was raised in a hardworking family and developed a lifelong5 work ethic shaped by perseverance and responsibility; and6 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United7 States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and 8 WHEREAS, he was the proud father to Brenda Jane Busbin, and was a devoted grandfather9 and great-grandfather; and10 WHEREAS, James Edwin Busbin di scovered his calling in funeral s ervice, earning his11 Georgia Funeral Director License in 1964, and opening J. E. Bus bin Funeral Home &12 Ambulance Service in 1966; and 13 S. R. 604 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0716 WHEREAS, he also enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career with Sears & Roebuck, earning14 Top Salesman of the Year for the Southeast Territory multiple t imes, and later owned15 Busbin’s Flooring, conducting business with integrity and trust; and 16 WHEREAS, in 2002, he helped found J. Collins Funeral Home alongside his grandson and17 served selflessly as the funeral home’s first full-time unpaid employee, caring for families18 during times of loss; and19 WHEREAS, James Edwin Busbin served the public through civic leadership as a member20 of the Villa Rica Planning and Zoning Board and later as a Villa Rica City Councilman, as21 well as was a longtime member of American Legion Post #70 and was actively involved in22 many local churches; and 23 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, James Edwin Busbin w ill long be24 remembered as a man who never met a stranger and whose life exemplified service to others,25 and he will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 join in honoring the life and memory of James Edwin Busbin and express their deepest and28 most sincere regret at his passing.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of31 James Edwin Busbin.32 S.
