HR1101: HR1101 Sprayberry's Bar-B-Q; 100th anniversary; recognize

26 LC 129 0586 House Resolution 1101 By: Representatives Smith of the 70th, Jenkins of the 136th, Bonner of the 73rd, Dawson of the 65th, and Glaize of the 67th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q upon the occ asion of its 100th1 anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q, in Coweta County, Georgia, will be celebrating the3 100th anniversary of its founding; and4 WHEREAS, Sprayberry’s is more than just a place to eat, the beloved restaurant serves as5 a community gathering spot, family tradition, and consistent la ndmark in a town that has6 been steadily growing and changing around it; and7 WHEREAS, founded in 1926 by Hudson Sprayberry, at just 23 years old, Sprayberry’s Bar-8 B-Q has remained in the same location since opening; and9 WHEREAS, through the past century, Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q has grown, drawing customers10 stopping in along Highway 29 and serving United States Military convoys through World11 War II; and12 H. R. 1101 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0586 WHEREAS, its reputation has also drawn well-known figures including Vice President Dan13 Quayle, Price Philip, country music star Alan Jackson—who previ ously worked at the14 restaurant, and Atlanta Braves player Dale Murphy; and15 WHEREAS, in 2021, following 95 years of family ownership, the Sprayberry family retired,16 entrusting Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q to Jay Rogers, a lifetime employee of the restaurant; and17 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the monumenta l anniversary of18 Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q be recognized.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20 the members of this body congratulate Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q on10 0 years of dedicated21 service, commend it for its many outstanding contributions on b ehalf of the citizens of22 Georgia, and extend best wishes for its continued growth, development, and success.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24 and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to25 Sprayberry’s Bar-B-Q.26 H.
