26 LC 129 0664 House Resolution 1066 By: Representatives Alexander of the 66th and New of the 40th A RESOLUTION Honoring Senior Chief Earnest C. Washington upon his retirement from the Department of1 Veterans Affairs and prior decades-long service to the United S tates Navy; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, Senior Chief Earnest C. Washington, a proud native of Savannah, Georgia, has4 devoted a lifetime to service, leadership, and excellence, demo nstrating an unwavering5 commitment to both country and community; and6 WHEREAS, after more than twenty years of honorable service in the United States Navy,7 Mr. Washington retired, and later began his federal civilian career with the Department of8 Veterans Affairs is 2008, as a Rating Veterans Service Represen tative, exemplifying that9 service to Veterans was not merely a profession, but a lifelong calling; and10 WHEREAS, throughout his tenure at the Atlanta Regional VA Offic e, Mr. Washington11 distinguished himself as a respected leader, mentor, and advoca te, progressing through12 multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Coach, Coach, and ultimately, in April 2015,13 promotion to Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager; and14 H. R. 1066 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0664 WHEREAS, in every role, Mr. Washington made a lasting impact—st rengthening15 operations, mentoring staff, and upholding the highest standards of service for the men and16 women who served our nation; and17 WHEREAS, Mr. Washington's career reflects the highest ideals of servant leadership,18 grounded in integrity, discipline, and a profound commitment to community; and19 WHEREAS, his personal life mirrors his professional accomplishm ents, as he and his20 devoted wife, Marcia Washington, a fellow Navy retiree and former VA Atlanta Regional21 employee, have shared 36 years of marriage and nurtured a family committed to service and22 leadership; and23 WHEREAS, their three children and six grandchildren continue the family's legacy of service24 and community engagement, further exemplifying the enduring impact of a family dedicated25 to service, mentorship, and community contribution; and26 WHEREAS, Senior Chief Washington officially retires on January 31, 2025, leaving behind27 a legacy of integrity, leadership, and service, and entering a well-earned chapter with more28 time to spend with family and loved ones; and 29 WHEREAS, his contributions to Veterans, the Department of Veter ans Affairs, and the30 community will be remembered for years to come.31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32 the members of this body honor and commend Senior Chief Earnest C. Washington for his33 extraordinary service to the United States Navy, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the34 community of Douglasville, Georgia, as well as extends their de epest gratitude to Senior35 H. R. 1066 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0664 Chief Washington and his family for their unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and36 lifelong commitment to service.37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized38 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to39 Senior Chief Washington.40 H.
