26 LC 64 0030 House Resolution 1053 By: Representatives Clark of the 100th, Horner of the 3rd, Martinez of the 111th, and Bonner of the 73rd A RESOLUTION To urge the appropriate state and local authorities to consider renaming Sawnee Mountain1 located in Forsyth County, Georgia, as Trump Mountain to recogn ize the historic2 significance of President Donald J. Trump's leadership and legacy and to commemorate the3 Trump Town Hall held in Forsyth County during the 2024 presiden tial campaign; and for4 other purposes.5 WHEREAS, Donald J. Trump stands as the most consequential president of the United States6 for our generation, having fundamentally reshaped American political discourse, governance,7 economic policy, foreign affairs, and the national debate over constitutional liberties; and8 WHEREAS, President Trump's tenure in office resulted in historic economic growth prior9 to the COVID-19 pandemic, energy independence for the United St ates, record-low10 unemployment across demographic groups, major tax reform for working families, and the11 appointment of constitu tionalist judges who will influence Amer ican jurisprudence for12 decades; and13 WHEREAS, President Trump's leadership has inspired unprecedente d civic participation14 among Americans who have long felt disconnected from the political process, reinvigorating15 democratic engagement nationwide; and16 H. R. 1053 - 1 - 26 LC 64 0030 WHEREAS, Forsyth County, Georgia, holds a unique place in modern American political17 history as the site of the nationally televised Trump Town Hall with female voters, one of the18 most widely viewed and discussed moments of the 2024 presidential campaign, that further19 served as a significant moment in President Trump's campaign by highlighting the concerns,20 priorities, and voices of women voters and shaping the national conversation during a21 decisive period of the election; and22 WHEREAS, the event brought national attention to Forsyth County and underscored23 Georgia's central role as a battleground state whose citizens h elped influence the outcome24 of one of the most consequential elections in American history; and25 WHEREAS, renaming Sawnee Mountain as Trump Mountain would serve as permanent26 recognition of President Donald J. Trump's historic impact on t he nation and Forsyth27 County's role in impacting the nation, preserving for future generations the importance of this28 historic event; and29 WHEREAS, such recognition reflects the longstanding American tr adition of honoring30 transformational leaders whose influence extends beyond a single administration and whose31 legacy continues to shape the course of the republic.32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that33 the members of this body respectfully urge the appropriate auth orities to consider the34 renaming of Sawnee Mountain, located in Forsyth County, Georgia, as Trump Mountain.35 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized36 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the37 appropriate state and local authorities and governing bodies.38 H.
