26 LC 129 0545 Senate Resolution 618 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Kemp of the 38th, James of the 28th, Howard of the 35th and Jones II of the 22nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Orson Charles; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Orson Charles is a distinguished former NFL player, known for his exceptional2 dedication, perseverance, and commitment to community; and3 WHEREAS, Orson Charles utilizes his platform, and the experiences of his youth, as a way4 to encourage others to overcome adversity, be resilient, and become a leader both on and off5 the field; and6 WHEREAS, in addition to a monumental NFL career with teams including the Cincinnati7 Bengals, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and the Kansas City Chiefs,8 Orson Charles is a passionate community leader, real estate bui lder and developer,9 philanthropist, speaker, and entrepreneur; and10 WHEREAS, his passion off the field is fueled by the Orson Charl es Family Foundation,11 which is dedicated to empowering and equipping communities for lasting impact; and12 WHEREAS, the foundation aspires to address the needs of single- parent households and13 low-income families by constructing multi-family complexes, providing essential assistance,14 S. R. 618 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0545 and spearheading initiatives a imed at supporting fatherless you th, including providing15 financial literacy education, organizing football camps, as wel l as offering mentoring and16 access to support networks; and17 WHEREAS, Orson Charles has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals,18 and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom which only comes19 through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the20 many challenges of life; and21 WHEREAS, Orson Charles’s legacy continues to inspire many, both in the realm of sports22 and within the broader community; and23 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24 remarkable and distinguished athlete and community leader be appropriately recognized.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26 recognize and commend Orson Charles for his unwavering commitme nt to the betterment27 of his community, state, and sport.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Orson Charles.30 S.
