26 LC 129 0744 Senate Resolution 603 By: Senators Bearden of the 30th and Brass of the 6th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs on January 20,2026; and3 WHEREAS, Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs was born on July 3, 1935, in Delta, Alabama,4 a beloved daughter of the late Reverend Wiley Sprayberry and Maurice Rogers Sprayberry;5 and6 WHEREAS, Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs earned a double master’s degree in education7 and devoted 42 years to teaching, retiring in 1996 from the Jefferson County Public School8 System in Alabama; and 9 WHEREAS, a devoted servant of the church, she helped organize and strengthen numerous10 church programs throughout her life and was instrumental in fou nding the Pre-K program11 at First Methodist Church of Villa Rica, where she was a faithful member for 19 years; and12 WHEREAS, she served faithfully as a minister’s wife for 40 year s, standing beside her13 husband in dedicated pastoral service; and14 S. R. 603 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0744 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs will15 long be remembered for her dedication to education, faith, family, and service to others and16 will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 join in honoring the life and memory of Mary Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs and express their19 deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mary22 Sprayberry Hatcher Boggs.23 S.
