A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Richard Otis Marable; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Richard Otis Marable on February 28, 2025; and3
WHEREAS, Richard Otis Marable was born on March 23, 1949, in Ro me, Georgia, a4
beloved son of Hampton and Evelyn Wood Marble; and5
WHEREAS, he served with honor and distinction on the Georgia State Senate for 12 years,6
diligently and conscientiously ensuring the best interests of the citizens of Georgia; and7
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Kathie , and was blessed with8
three remarkable children, J.J., Benjamin, and Andrea; and two wonderful grandchildren; and9
seven great grandchildren; and10
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern11
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his12
family and friends were admired by others; and13

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation14
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he15
made this world a better place in which to live; and16
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Richard Otis Marable will long be17
remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who18
had the great fortune of knowing him.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
join in honoring the life and memory of Richard Otis Marable and express their deepest and21
most sincere regret at his passing.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of24
Richard Otis Marable.25
