26 LC 129 0629 House Resolution 1073 By: Representative Jackson of the 128th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Shirley Diamond; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Shirley Diamond is a talented and versatile rhythm and blues, jazz, rock, and2 gospel singer from Atlanta, Georgia; and3 WHEREAS, her enlightening, high-spirited voice has captured lis teners of her studio4 recordings as well as audiences at prestigious Atlanta venues s uch as the Tabernacle and5 Underground Atlanta; and6 WHEREAS, following in the footsteps of artists such as Stevie W onder, Aretha Franklin,7 Chaka Chan, Ray Charles, and Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Diamond has forged her own path and8 built a name for herself in Atlanta’s vibrant music scene as well on tour with various artists;9 and10 WHEREAS, Shirley Diamond’s music reflects not only her talent, but also the dedication,11 resilience, and creative passion she brings to everything she does; and12 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distingu ished Georgian be13 appropriately honored.14 H. R. 1073 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0629 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15 the members of this body recognize and commend Shirley Diamond for her countless16 contributions to music and arts in the State of Georgia and ext end best wishes for her17 continued health, happiness, and success.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to20 Shirley Diamond.21 H.
