A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mrs. Lena B. Williams; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lena B. Williams was born on December 3, 1930, in St. Andrew, Jamaica,2
to William Hoo Fatt, a Chinese immigrant shop owner, and Kathleen Rose Hall, a Jamaican3
seamstress of exceptional skill; and4
WHEREAS, as the firstborn of seven children, Mrs. Williams spen t her early years in5
Woodford, St. Andrew, and later graduated from the distinguishe d Excelsior High School6
in Kingston; and7
WHEREAS, she pursued higher education at Mico Teachers College, the oldest teacher8
training institution in the Western Hemisphere, where she was proudly among the first class9
of women to matriculate and graduate from the institution in 1956; and10
WHEREAS, during her studies at Mico, she met Alvin C. “A.C.” Williams of Belize, whom11
she married on August 3, 1957, and their union of 63 years was blessed with three children:12
Donald, Allan, and Karlene; and13

WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams and her husband dedicated more than 50 y ears to the noble14
profession of teaching, shaping and enriching young lives in Jamaica, The Bahamas, and the15
State of Georgia; and16
WHEREAS, their partnership in education endured until Mr. Williams' passing in 2020, and17
Mrs. Williams' legacy as a lifelong educator continues to inspi re students, families,18
colleagues, and communities; and19
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lena B. Williams is widely admired for her unwavering commitment to20
excellence, her profound influence on generations of learners, and her enduring example of21
service, leadership, and grace.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Lena B. Williams for her outstanding24
service and extend best wishes for her continued health and happiness.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.27
Lena B. Williams.28
