26 LC 129 0749 House Resolution 1148 By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Scott of the 76th, Davis of the 87th, Jackson of the 68th, and Cameron of the 1st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals;1 and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professiona ls (Certified Dietary3 Managers, Certified Foodservice Protection Professional) is com prised of educated and4 highly trained professionals who are responsible for ensuring q uality nutritional care and5 foodservice operations for clients and residents in nursing hom es, assisted living and6 residential facilities, educational institutions, community nutrition sites, correctional centers,7 hospitals, substance use treatment centers, boarding homes, dev elopmental disability and8 mental health centers, colleges, schools, and restaurants; and9 10 WHEREAS, according to national data, more than 1.3 million food service and nutrition11 professionals work across healthcare, education, and community-based settings in the United12 States, serving millions of individuals daily and playing a cri tical role in health outcomes,13 safety, and quality of life; and14 15 WHEREAS, proper nutrition and safe foodservice practices are directly linked to improved16 health outcomes, reduced hospital readmissions, enhanced academic performance, and better17 H. R. 1148 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0749 long-term wellness, particularly among seniors, children, individuals with disabilities, and18 those in recovery or institutional care; and19 20 WHEREAS, members of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Certified21 Dietary Managers, Certified Foodservice Protection Professional ) play a critical role in22 safeguarding public health by hiring, orienting, and training employees to meet and exceed23 federal, state, and local health regulations, food safety stand ards, and sanitation24 codes-standards that are essential in preventing foodborne illness and protecting vulnerable25 populations; and26 27 WHEREAS, foodborne illnesses affect an estimated 48 million Ame ricans each year,28 underscoring the importance of trained nutrition and foodservice professionals who ensure29 compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement within foodservice operations; and30 31 WHEREAS, these professionals demonstrate leadership, accountability, and commitment to32 excellence while supporting the nutritional well-being, dignity , and quality of life of the33 individuals and communities they serve; and34 35 WHEREAS, a designated recognition week provides an important op portunity to36 acknowledge the vital contributions of the foodservice profession and to encourage members37 of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Ce rtified Dietary Managers,38 Certified Foodservice Protection Professional) to unite in celebration of their service, impact,39 and professionalism.40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that41 the members of this body recognize and commend the Association of Nutrition and42 H. R. 1148 - 2 - 26 LC 129 0749 Foodservice Professionals for ensuring proper nutrition and practices of foodservice safety43 thereby protecting public heath.44 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized45 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the46 Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.47 H.
