26 LC 129 0804 House Resolution 1149 By: Representatives Greene of the 154th, Sampson of the 153rd, Cheokas of the 151st, Yearta of the 152nd, and Gullett of the 19th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 11, 2026, as Albany-Dougherty County Day a t the capitol,1 commending the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, and inviting community partners and2 leadership to be recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County and the Albany Area play a vital and ever-expanding4 role in establishing and maintaining Georgia as the number one state in the country for5 business; and6 WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County is known for its innovative small businesses; Marine7 Corps Logistics Base Albany; global industries including Procter & Gamble, Molson Coors,8 Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Georgia Pacific, Thrush Aircraft and ThermaCare; attractions9 and growing tourism industry; outdoor recreational opportunitie s; natural resources;10 world-class healthcare at the Phoebe Putney Health System; as w ell as its educational11 institutions; and12 WHEREAS, The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce represents and advances the interests13 of the business community with distinction, convenes the talents and resources of strategic14 and governmental partners for the benefit of the community and region, leads the efforts to15 create a business climate that is conducive to economic growth and prosperity, and in the16 H. R. 1149 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0804 aftermath of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, played a key role in supporting,17 protecting and enhancing the quality of life and commercial vitality of the Albany Area.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body recognize February 11, 2026, as Albany-Dougherty County Day20 at the capitol, congratulate the Albany Area Chamber of Commerc e on 116 years of21 excellence serving the economic hub of Southwest Georgia and advocating for the Albany22 Area's interests, and invite its community leadership and partners to be recognized by the23 House of Representatives.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.27 H.
